Sharing My World

1.   Does the weather affect your mood? No, not really. I live in the UK, where we get a lot of rain. I would be permanently depressed if that was the case. There is something familiar about being in the rain, jumping in puddles, that makes me feel at home. It is great when you can get out, when we do get any sun, but it doesn’t affect my mood.

2.   If a stranger smiles at you or says ‘good morning’ when they pass you in the street, do you return it? Yes, but it depends on the tone. As a woman, we have to be more careful. I think smiling at someone can lift a mood but smiling at a stranger and it does become creepy.

3.   If you had a choice of just one of these things to eat, what would it be and why?
Chocolate, a sweet pastry, a plate of chips/fries (this is not a forever choice, just one instance). No, don’t like the choices – I like all of them. However, chocolate is something I eat every day. My choices have changed, healthier, but there is chocolate involved.

4.  If you could go back to when you were a specific age, what would that be? Why? I would go back to when I was eight years old. I was bullied, never spoke of it to my teachers. I didn’t want to make it worse, but then it couldn’t have been worse. The boys, who followed me home from school, called me names, made my life a living hell. I am just grateful it wasn’t now. Social media would have made things so much worse. I feel for anyone being bullied because it goes under the radar of parents or carers.

My gratitude is my family. We may not see each other very often. but when we meet up, it is like we have never been apart. I love them all so much!

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
