Hard Work

It was hard work, getting up early in the morning, even before her accident.

Sheila liked having a lay in, so chose a job where she could be a night owl and it not be a problem. Now, looking for work was difficult. She didn’t know what she wanted to do. For a little while, she worked as a waitress, but apart from tips, it wasn’t well paid. There was the job, cleaning cars. It was a blast, but she was washed out with the long hours.

She circled some jobs, that might be of interest.

Money wasn’t an issue but being bored was. She needed something that would use her brain cells. She passed all her GCSE’s. Now, because of rising unemployment, she struggled to find work.

One job caught her attention, perfect if she could get it.

Calling the number, she asked for Stacey.

‘I’m ringing about the job, have I got experience. Yes, I have worked in this industry before. Can you tell me, is there any wheelchair access?’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
