Gift Giving

Written for https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2022/11/28/share-your-world-28th-november/

Do you have any family traditions? A week before Christmas we always go to see my family, where I used to live. My brother and sister-in-law will put on a spread, and everyone will meet at his house. On Christmas Day we eat round my daughters. Her partner cooks the turkey. We open our presents in the morning, and have stockings, which we open last.

With December on its way, have you ever been carol singing? Only as a child, as an adult I haven’t.

Do you decorate your home for the Christmas holidays? I put up a Christmas Tree and put tinsel everywhere. We don’t decorate the outside though.

Do you enjoy the Christmas rush for preparations and shopping? I don’t enjoy there is only three weeks to Christmas, and I have so much more to do. I have brought gifts for abroad, just so I don’t leave it last minute (as usual)

I’ve said it before, but I am so grateful for friends and family. They are my reason to smile, and to see them smile is all I need to be happy.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

    1. I remember as a child we always went to my aunties on Christmas evening. She had an open house, and all were welcome. She laid out a spread of food, and we played charades in the evening.
