First Day

This week, forhttps://sillyfrogsusan.com/2023/01/03/dverse-haibun-monday-1-2-23-birth/ about your feelings towards this New Year and/or what you do in the first few days of January.

2023 feels like I am part of a film set in a distant future. Born in the 1960’s, I remember the book 1984, and the film back to the future. We all think about life more at this time of year. New year brings a renewed thinking to make the right decisions.

By the end of the year, some of those decisions don’t materialise. Some do, but I have long since given in to making new year resolutions. We have a busy year with birthdays. My husband’s 60th, my niece’s 50th, and a great nephew and great niece turning 18.

Tomorrow is my granddaughter’s first day at nursery, she is three, and it doesn’t seem like those years have passed. Hopefully she will return home with paintings, and a friendship she will always have fond memories.

First day nerves, no way.

Meeting friends, my goal is clear

Mummy, I’m ready.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
