As the Years Fly By

A new year, and it seems like they are flying from one to the next. We blink, and it is Valentine’s day, then Easter, summer holidays, before you know it September, and the Christmas decorations are already being sold.

Even now, there are Easter eggs for sale in a lot of shops. We are not allowed to get over the spending before they want us to spend more. Not that I take much notice of what they are selling in shops. I refuse t buy eggs four months before Easter.

When I was little, twelve months to my birthday dragged, now, it is like someone has pressed the fast forward button.

I am looking forward to this year, not just because we have a lot of special birthdays. In addition to that, I am going to spend time with my family. I want to book a holiday abroad, as I have never been anywhere but my own country. I definitely want to get my garden fixed. My decking, a shed for my husband, and somewhere nice to sit out in the summer. A swing, or trampoline for my granddaughter, perhaps some barbecues if the weather is nice.

I need a year where we can celebrate life, milestones, and laughter.

Lots of laughter.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
