Waking Up

Written for KL Caley’s Thursday Write Photo – Arrowslit

I didn’t want to wake up.

Not that morning anyway, the sun is way too bright. It is boring into my eyes like I am in an interrogation room. Raising my arm, I shield myself from the barrage of light. I plump up my pillows, the beige wall muting my nightmares. Ten minutes, that’s all I want. Not much you say, for me it is that extra chance to close my eyes, a little bit of me time before breakfast, the school run, and work.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Ooh very interesting response and yes! We definitely all feel like this from time to time?! The worst is when you wake ten minutes before your alarm, you feel cheated as you should have had that 10 minutes sleep! Thank you for a great entry to the #writephoto challenge. KL ❤
