A piece of prose for https://lindaghill.com/2023/01/27/the-friday-reminder-for-socs-jusjojan-2023-daily-prompt-jan-28th/. The prompt words ”Throw in the towel.”
‘I’m not giving up, or throwing in any towel, I must finish what I started,’ David said, looking at the book shelf.
Yes, it was a little wonky, but there must be something he could do. Even if it was to take it off and start again. Besides, his wife had so many books, some of which she hadn’t read in years. Still she had to keep them. Why?
He grabbed his drill, and reversed the action, so he could take off the nails. Half an hour later, he praised his own work. His wife was at her palates class – a job well done, deserved a drink.
A knock on the door, and he answered it; Amazon, and more books, this had to stop. He would have a word with her when she got back home. Perhaps give some of them to a charity shop.
In the kitchen, he made himself a cuppa, it was a welcome change from slaving away on the shelf. Sat in the front room, he sorted out all his vape stuff. There were mods of all different sizes – from ones he could take out, and others, which could blow a plume of smoke so thick, you needed to slice it with the palm of your hand.
His wife, just as he had sat down, sauntered in the room.
He was about to say about her books, then thought better of it – he needed a new one, perhaps she would help him order it off Amazon.
Lol love it Diana! 😀

Haha honestly this is why I have to get library books now 😂 If I buy them, then I’ll just procrastinate reading them – you’ve captured this scenario perfectly 😆
