Family

This week from https://gmgblog.ca/2023/03/06/five-word-weekly-challenge-2310/

Serene, that’s what it was.

Amongst all the bubbles, she put the ear plugs in, and settled down to read her book. The balance of family, and time spent alone was not a constant battle. She loved them, would give her life for them, but sometimes she needed a little bit of time to herself.

It was a little bit caustic earlier with her husband. He rushed in the door complaining about his manager. It wasn’t like she didn’t understand. She had a long day too, especially when she was juggling the school run, work, and making sure everyone had clean clothes.

In her endeavour to keep the peace, she merely handed him a dish cloth, and walked upstairs. A time for a bath, refresh her mind with a good book. He could feed the children, just for tonight.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
