Pastures New

Questions from https://earthlycomforts.uk/2023/03/09/a-wild-aloha-to-you-25/

Have you ever watched a long-running televised series from start to finish, and once you have reached the end, you wanted to watch it again or is once enough for you and time for a new long-running series?

Like another blogger I have binge watched Greys Anatomy from start to finish, when my daughter said it was great. She often said, don’t get too attached to the characters, and she is probably right. Most of the ones I loved tended to have an unhappy ending (Don’t go on that plane!)

Now Meredith is moving on to pastures new, and the program continues with her nephew as the Grey.

I have binge watched Bones, love that show. Over three months I watched every episode. Sometimes I thought, why didn’t I remember this. Again, much loved characters either got led astray or died. (The Lime and the Coconut) and anyone who watches Bones will understand the reference.

I am now watching Star Trek, the series with Captain Janeway. It’s funny, but I didn’t see the comedy in it the first time, but there are a lot of tongue in cheek jokes. In the second episode, she wants to be everyone’s friend, but doesn’t know how. She ends up being funny in the ways she tries to communicate.

Do you think traditions are essential to society – if so, why and if not, why not?

It depends on the traditions – For example Christmas, Easter, are a great way of getting family together. The tradition of going out on Halloween, dressing all spooky is something new in the UK, however my daughter loves that time of year. She loves dressing up and being all witchy.

What would be easier to throw away deep love or deeply lined rich pockets – flipside – can money buy love?
Deep love, or a love you have with family, close friends, and pets cannot be brought.

Can money buy love – yes, there are many relationships that are based on money, but it wouldn’t last, or be a love you would have if it wasn’t involved. I definitely didn’t marry or love my husband for his money. We just shared the good and bad times, knowing we are there for each other every step of our days.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Interesting answers Diana – many thanks – I have never watched Grey’s A, is it any good? Do you tend to watch a lot of the medical series or have you over the years? I know Suze [OH] is a huge fan of the medical series – like Call the Midwife, holby, Casuality, New Amsterdam and several others over the years and l have never been hooked.

    1. It is great, but don’t get too attached to the characters. I have watched Casualty, Call the Midwife (read the book first though) I haven’t watched Holby, even though it is linked to Casualty. I am more hooked on detective shows, I think it is because I watched them with my dad (Sherlock Holmes, Charlie Chan, Miss Marple, Poirot). I cannot name all the detective programs I watch, as there wouldn’t be enough space. Happy Valley is one I would recommend.
