Waiting

Written for https://lightmotifs.wordpress.com/2023/03/20/tmp100-target/ and her Monday peeve.

If you are waiting for someone to repair an appliance, or other work, and they tell us they will be here between nine and five. You stay in, most of the day, and they come right at the end. Wouldn’t it be better for a text to say, we are on our way, within a couple of hours window. At least then we could get on with what we need to do. Shopping, work, instead of worrying we have to stay in the whole day.

I get they are busy, but so are we.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Here, they give you a three-hour window so you aren’t sitting around all day like that. And they’re good about calling if something goes wrong and they’re going to be late, giving you a chance to reschedule, in case the new time is inconvenient. having to sit around all day waiting for the repairman is infuriating.
