Filing

Being in charge of hell was a thankless task.

The monotony of filing all those souls, was something Marta Hari hated doing. She regretted going for the promotion, when their old manager went for reintegration on Earth.

Look, she thought to herself, it depended on what side of the coin you represented. For example, in British history, there were many souls, who ended up in hell. When she was a soul, did she not think she was working for the right side. She was a strong willed female, in a period of time, where it was frowned upon.

Was it her fault she had resorted to murder?

‘Marta, where are you on the soul trade today?’ A new face said, walking into her office.

‘I’m on B and C, Bonnie has decided to try her luck in the twenty first century. She feels it is time to split from Clyde. He still doesn’t feel he had any choice in what he did. Bonnie wants to try being born on the rich side of the tracks. It’s a new initiative a step into Heaven they call it.’

‘Middle Earth, I’ve heard some say it is hell anyway, Robert really likes stoking the fire, says it gives him purpose. Stephen has taken his sunglasses, says it’s warmer here than where he came from. Oh, by the way, we need to stop the party in section six, they are having too much of a good time.’

‘Ok Madam, will do.’

Marta smiled, perhaps being in this job wasn’t so bad after all. It was nice being in charge and giving the orders. Now onto C, perhaps she could send him in the 2020, he definitely would hate that.

‘It’s raining men,’ she sang, suddenly enjoying her work.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
