Time

As a little girl,

each month was a milestone –

five and two, three, eleven months.

brushing away time,

until my next birthday. Years never

flew quick enough. As I get older,31

something not quite right. Time flies by

and months turn into debatable decades.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Diana, beautiful memoir quadrille. The prompt word is “brush” but I don’t see that word in your poem. Would you like to amend your poem to include it or write another poem for the prompt?
