What a Cheek!

When I first heard of cat training school, it intrigued me. I mean, Scamp always raved about learning to sit, stay and lay down on command. Was it that great? I thought the only way I could find out was to join my owner.

What a cheek! I had to wear a harness. I am not a common dog. Can you imagine? I fought back. A valiant effort. Even though none of my strikes deterred her, I still made my point. By the time I finished, she looked like she was in a fight with a monster.

Not how she wanted to start the classes, I’m sure.

We sat there, and the woman in charge showed our humans the command sit. We all stared, refusing their request. A; We rest as a sport, and B, we’re feline with a mind of our own.

The hour passed by in a blur of inactivity; and when we got home, feeding time, long overdue, I miaowed until she opened the packet of special fish fillets.

What do they know anyway? They have no hunting skills. Last night, I left a mouse, barely moving, and all she did was a scream. I have delicate ears, and she gave me a headache.

Get a grip, it won’t bite you.

I might threaten to go on hunger strike; scratch that, I’ll disturb her sleeping. If she’s tired, she won’t get up till four, and I won’t be able to drive me there. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m trying to sleep.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
