‘It’s orange,’ Moira parted her fingers, staring at the mirror.
She clutched the hair colouring box in her hands, the smiling actress, with her blond strands swept into flowing curls smiled with her gleaming teeth. A perfect fifth meeting slipped into its own decline. She liked Tom, and he would run out of the restaurant if he saw this level of sunset.
‘It certainly is.’
Robert held his sides as tears streamed down his face. Friends since nursery, he dodged the missile aimed at his head.
‘Lucky you didn’t get that fake tan.’
‘Shut up and help me out! How do I fix this?’
He moved closer and removed the cover. ‘Look, you want to impress this bloke? You like him. I came with you on your first date, and he wasn’t an axe murderer. If he thinks anything of you, it won’t matter what shade it is. Reckon he would be mad to not see you for who you are. A confident, no messing woman. Now, what have you got to match? Ah yes, reckon you should wear your skull trousers and if he don’t like it, then we’ll watch a movie, and eat ice-cream.’
She smiled, whatever happened, she would be happy.
awe I love a happy ending!
