My World

  1.  Growing up, did your parents take you to visit your uncles, aunts and grandparents regularly? Yes. My cousin is about the same age, so we often played together. They also gathered to engage in a poker game (for pennies) and, as children, we peeked downstairs before being instructed to return to bed. When I was eighteen, I got the opportunity to play cards. My grandparents died years before I was born.
  2.  If so, did you enjoy those visits and try to get out of them? I loved visiting my aunties and uncles. At Christmas, it was a tradition to spend the evening with all my relatives. Whether it was a game of charades, or playing with my cousins, or eating too much, my memories are always good.
  3.  What holidays did you have with your parents? Every year we visited Margate. We spent on the beach, sitting next to my father, while Mum played bingo. In the evenings, we would see a show. I adored having Horlicks and a cake before we returned to the guest house.
Gratitude I was lucky, and have many happy memories of going on holiday with my family.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
