Under normal circumstances, Ryan would speak his mind, but with a gun pressed up against his head; to stay silent is the safest tactic.
He glued his lips together, assessing the situation. Were there any escape routes? Shadows stretched along the pathway, sneaking into each corner, until smothered in a glimpse of freedom.
Slipping into their step, they led him to their van.
Once inside, his chances slithered down to a negative version of himself.
‘No need to shove, I’ll go with you. I promise, I can explain.’
Poisonous, their laughter snatched the air.
Legs moving towards his doom, he slipped into their rhythmic moves.
‘Oh, he’ll get you talking alright.’
Their free appendage against the cool of the handle, his hand slipped into his jacket pocket. A cluster of keys, and before he reacted, the pointed end slashed into fragile skin. As his assailant crumpled, he yanked his key ring back, elbowing the taller man, who overpowered his aim.
‘What the f …’
He pushed away; the alley was his only option.
Each jerky movement, and as he slid into the darkness, his belief of freedom expanded into a hopeful end.
Very mysterious and everything happened so fast. You kept my attention with this story, Diana.
