My mum would always say, remember to wear your scarf. As a child, and when I was in my forties. Soft wool, or cotton, secure on my neck nothing could hurt me. Not sure how it stopped a cold, but I understood she loved me.
Scarves are warm, and a reminder that someone loves you enough to want you to stay safe. Wearing a matching hat and gloves, you are protected, and hopefuly you won’t catch the flu.
I can never get rid of my scarves.
Looking back I remember those little mother (well intended) sayings I received as a child …. and older. And I know I have given the same as a mother. It’s part of the territory.

this is so true my mum had so many traditions we all adhered to …. Wearing a hat and scarf was one of them ..I still do to this day.
Mum had so many it would take up a post or three to list them 💜💜🌹
