Name, Rank and Serial number; Alan’s dad taught him to never give his life away to strangers; yet to reveal his pain was right this time.

He settled on the bench, throwing the swans bread as they glided towards him. Crumbs of bread weren’t healthy, but at least he contributed to their welfare. His own? For many years, he couldn’t feed himself properly, relying on the charity of others to get by.

The social worker advised sheltered accommodation-perhaps this once he could accept the help of a stranger.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
