Being a mum is a precious thing. We provide our children protection from the womb, and for each year they are mature enough to look after themselves. Whether you are working or stay at home, it doesn’t matter. We are all doing our best to make a good life for them.
I went back to my job when they had reached the age of three months. My brilliant mother and mother-in-law loved and protected them. Did I miss them? Yes. Would I have done anything differently? No. I am proud I helped with the bills, so I could provide them a safe place to live.
When my son was seven, I changed career.
Doctors diagnosed him with autism, and I wanted to spend more time with him and my daughter. When they went to school, I started a role as a teaching assistant. I could be with them and have a career.
To all mum’s everywhere, whether you work or stay at home; you are a brilliant role model.

A fabulous post! My mother was a teaching assistant when my little brother was born. It was one of the only occupations she could have and be home with him. There was 13 years between him and I.

It is easy to feel like a failure, but we are only trying our best.
