At midnight, the thunder and lightning fighting for attention. Worthy adversary’s ready to triumph at any cost. Amanda couldn’t look away. Each bright flash illuminating the sky. A grumbling sound, seconds later, the storm strides on.

After the battle receded into nothing but a rumble, she creeps under the covers. A years full of rain hammered on the roof and she slept soundly.

The next morning, ran out into the fresh air in her muddy wellington boots; Fresh air overpowered the humidity.

Their argument forgiven, life could go on as normal.

As unbridled joy filled her lungs, she grinned as her legs pushed into the puddle. Water sprayed across the street. If wishes were droplets, she thought to herself, then hope would leave its beautiful nature behind.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
