Polished Toes

Wishing waves washed smooth pebbles, as Carol finished her second cup of espresso for the morning. The freedom of her flip-flops were cool against her polished red toes. She dipped her fork into her light pancakes, covered in a lemon sauce. Each mouthful melted on her tonsils.

She leant back in her comfortable chair and allowed the sea breeze to inspire. Was it possible to leave? A blossoming friendship, with the possibility to heal, called like a mermaid’s lullaby. However, in two weeks, dreamlike shore would be just a memory.

Lost in her trail of thoughts, the rhythmic pulse brought hope.

Whatever her decision, she would call this paradise home.

Wishing waves whispered; I am here, I am love, you are well.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
