Sarah pulled back and rested on her back legs. Each droplet highlighted in the golden dawn shimmered. Layer upon entrusted layer, identical in its inspiration, held strong.
She gathered in lithe limbs into the tiniest ball she could; hid like the moon on a cloudy night.
Would her creation lure her victim? Yes. Her perfect web would ensure it . A gifted murderer, with the sweet aroma of love. Nothing escaped her talons. Pheromones scented the air, and he soared in.
‘Come into my wonderful web,’ said the spider. ‘A little closer – I am no threat, I promise …’
The fly buzzed straight into her trap, and its feet stuck firm.
Softly, quietly, she crept along fragile branches.
‘I’ll do this without pain,’ she uttered.
She poised her talons, his wings folded in silk.
Excellent story Diana. That spider is very crafty. Thanks for joining in.
