Celebrating

Written for https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/category/sunday-poser/

I am having a quiet Christmas day this year. My daughter is going to her partner’s mum’s house. It is okay, as I have spent five years sharing both days with my grandchildren. On Boxing day we are celebrating by going out for a meal, and opening the rest of our presents. It is a good thing, as the amount of gifts can be overwhelming for a child.

In the morning, I will call my brother and daughter, to wish them a merry Christmas. I plan on helping with the cooking, watching a family film, and spending the day with my husband, son and his friend. We don’t have to travel anywhere, so we can have a drink.

There will be no blogging on Christmas, or Boxing day.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. We are overwhelmed with TV ads etc etc that try to tell us exactly how we must celebrate Christmas or any holiday. I’m glad you are doing what you want. I raise my glass to that. My daughter and maybe my son will be with me. I will post what I have prepared and read/like the few that also post.

  2. Enjoy your quiet Christmas Day! Sounds very good. We will do the same, just me and the Mr. We will facetime with our daughter, son in law and grandson in another state in the morning. We plan on having our Christmas on the 23rd with my daughter, son in law, and grand-daughter here in town. We do this every year, as it is our wedding anniversary too. 🙂
