Grannie

Written for https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/category/what-do-you-see/

I never knew my grannie,

but stories oft were told

of a woman on a mission

to find her precious gold.

She wore these funny glasses

a red rim, the shape of a heart

Mum says I look like her

and have the same love start.

So I keep all of her belongings

her beautiful fragile strands

in memory of her cotton

and threads of time will land.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
