Library

Walking into the library, she couldn’t look away from the different books lining the white shelves. A kaleidoscope of colour, each with their own story. What would she read first? Katie, a story of a grandfather and his granddaughter a wonderful way to pass an hour or three. She could imagine running down the hill, with the warm wind against her cheeks. Miss Marple, a little old lady, confident in her reading of a criminal’s cruelty, finding the clues the police couldn’t find. St Mary Mead, friendship, and many mysteries to solve. Perhaps Harry Potter? It’s been years since she read the magical journey of a young orphan with magic in his heart.

She hoped, one day, her books would nestle between these classics – Allow another reader the chance to get lost in the journey. Resting in between the cushions she opened the book and her shoulders leant into a restful read.

The light filtered through and she was home.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Years ago I would check out seven or eight books from library and lay them on the bed and try to decide which to start first. Then end up reading several books at a time. You are lucky to be both a reader and a writing.
