Not for Ourselves

‘Sometimes a kind word is something we leave for strangers, but not for ourselves. You have been through a traumatic experience, yet you blame yourself for everything and that isn’t healthy.’

Sally took another tissue from the box and twisted it into several pieces. She was told therapy would help, but doubt drove a knife into her chest. ‘It all happened so long ago; I was eight when they bullied me at school; why does it affect me now?’

‘Trauma doesn’t stop; it festers.’

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
