Last Day

It was my last day at work today as learning support. I’ve enjoyed the last three years working alongside talented support assistants and teachers. All those lessons in English have definitely helped my writing.

What to do next? I’m not sure. I’ve applied for other jobs, but my heart will always belong to creating a world out of nowhere. Unfortunately being an author doesn’t pay well. Unless you are noticed by an agent or publisher that is.

Whatever happens I will continue with my dream of being a paid author.

My latest project is about a visually impaired, female food critic, who is investigating her husband’s death. I got the inspiration from working with a blind, and visually impaired students. I could see their disability never stopped them, so why should it stop my main character.

I’ve made life a little hard, because I cannot show what the character sees and have to use the other senses. But I’m not afraid of hard work. I am on my final edits before I send it to agents and publishers.

Wish me luck.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
