From a young age my mum taught me to Edulcorate. To purify your spell using nothing more than taking away any acids and salts. It is a way of helping to see things more clearly.
Our future isn’t clear – we are in a land of between places. It isn’t quite real, and a place where we are kept safe from whatever is out on those seas, devouring the land at our feet.
She boils away the salt, and weakens the acids, and we are left with a swirling mist of possible outcomes. I am mesmerised by the future, but have a feeling it is the past my mum is looking to.
Past mistakes – learning from them.
‘What does this mean?’ I ask, pointing to two identical versions of me.
‘It means you need to take one path. You are the answer to everything. You led your brother back, and now you must push away the evil in the mist. I have taught you well, and you have learnt from your journey. You are strong Bethany, and whether you be a pirate or a witch, you alone can stop this, but only by going into the past.’
Is this something like taking ivermectin to purify the body from a virus? Need clarification. 😉

To be honest it was my take on the meaning of the word.
