Same Same But Different
Your ‘Same Same But Different’ task is to take the five challenge words and NOT use them in your writing. That’s right, you need to dig out your thesaurus and find a synonym for each word instead.
Your words are:
- sweater – jumper
- leg – limb
- ride – travel
- rock – swing
- show – expression
Rowena removed her jumper from her walk in wardrobe. One sleeve stretched longer than the other, and there was a hole at the bottom, where the wool snagged on a stray nail.
It didn’t matter though, they were old friends.
The sixties, full or rock and roll, and dancing – swinging her limbs on the dance floor. They were weightless then, but now, her knees decided to lock at the most inopportune moments. Last week she travelled to work, and was changing gear when a sharp pain almost made her crash the car.
She looked into the mirror and her expression reflected the good times.
All the fashion designer dresses never felt this comfortable. It wasn’t quite a gardening jumper, or even a jumper for do it yourself, but a jumper to wear on a day when she wasn’t quite herself.
Out in the garden, she climbed on the swing, and let her legs go. There was no knee pain, or back pain, but a reminder she wasn’t always this old. Her inner Cheshire Cat couldn’t stop grinning.
