Linda’s Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “fortune.”

”This must be worth a fortune!” Avery I said, his hand over a small, square box.

E Bay’s site changed over thirty years.

Gone were the computers, and shopping habits had changed. With a touch of the live stream on her temple, it was like she was actually there. A bit like a car boot her grannie told her about.

You could walk around and find bargains everywhere you looked. One day she found a Tamagotchi, hand held game for twenty pence, and sold it for £50. Money was weird though, and since the crash in 2030, most people used credits to buy things – even food.

2060, and the world was different now. Most human beings stayed within their perimeter of their bubble. Travelling to another part of the country was prohibited because any more carbon emissions and the ozone would be lost forever.

Repair and Remind, the governments warning to all citizens, gave them the reason to agree. Repair the ozone layer, and if anyone went against the law, remind them of the Free Force.

Otherwise t

he consequences were dire.

Everything was banned these days, and most objects were made out of recycled plastic. Each bottle, toy, knife, fork, box was taken to a plastic bank and in return you got credits to spend on luxuries such as toilet roll.

As she swiped left, something caught her eye – for only five credits there was a Play station three. Wow! This would give her enough to pay her rent and eat this week. Maybe she could treat herself to a chocolate, star bar.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
