Did your family attend services together? I went to Sunday school from an early age. I remember going to the church service afterwards and Mum taking Holy Communion. I class myself as a Christian, but I don’t go to church. I pray every night, and be the best person I can be. I hope that is enough.
Did you attend weekly, more than once a week, only on specific holidays, or some other designated time frame? No, as I said, I don’t go to church, but all my children have been christened. I have given them the choice of what they believe because I think it is important they have that choice. Just because I think a certain way, I won’t force them.
Was everyone of the same thought as to what faith to follow? My brother now goes to church every week. His faith is important to him. We are all different. He doesn’t say I should go to church, and I don’t tell him not to.
Did you have friends specifically from church/synagogue/ temple/ mosque, etc.? No, but my brother is one of my best friends.
Did your family practice religious ceremonies at home?
If you chose to depart from what your family believed (and feel like sharing) why did you do so? Not really. I don’t remember my parents going to church. My mum was confirmed when she had TB as an adult. Her parents were Catholic, so she went to church regularly as a child.
I do believe in God, and I am a Christian. I don’t go to church, but never take off my cross. I know other people of other faiths, and believe they have the right to choose what they do or don’t believe. As long as we go through life doing our best to be a good person then that’s all that matters. I have also learnt that all religions have similar traits, so we need to understand each other to make this world a better place.
I like your answers Diana. I agree with them. Xx
