When at the ocean, do you want to be in it, on it, or just look at it? (If you don’t like visiting the ocean, what is a hobby you enjoy on vacation or in general?) I like sitting on the beach, in a deckchair, reading a book. Although this year I will probably be making a sandcastle or three. We are going away in about a month (May holidays are cheaper and we can be sure of some hot weather). My granddaughter, daughter, son, husband and his friend are spending a week in Yorkshire. I am looking forward to it, and can’t wait to get away. I may not blog, depending on whether the caravan has WI-FI access. I will be making sandcastles, and digging trenches, and bringing water to fill those trenches
Have you ever surfed or gone snorkeling? I can’t swim very well, so I haven’t done either.
When traveling, do you experiment with the local dining experience or pack a picnic/cook for yourself and anyone with you? It is all dependent on cost. I have found meals out are the main cost of any holiday. We tend to have a small lunch out, and then make something to eat when we get back to the caravan. They don’t hold much food, so we tend to buy each day. There is nothing like a good fish and chip supper though. Fish on the coast tastes better than any fine dining.
What is your biggest pet peeve when traveling? The cost of food. If there are a few of you, it will cost at least twenty pounds per family. When you are on a budget, it can be expensive.
Are you someone who takes a lot of photos on vacation? If so, you can share your favorite vacation photos. (If not, share your favorite vacation story.) We take photographs on holiday, but mostly on mobiles these days. My phone is full of photographs, which never really get printed. My favourite story would be travelling to Margate as a child. We always went by coach, as my dad didn’t drive. The smell of the sea, as we approached made me grin. I knew my holiday was really starting then. Dad and me on the beach, Mum going to bingo after complaining it was getting too hot, and evenings watching wrestling, or Lulu, or Rod Hull and Emu. I loved those holidays, where we would stay in a bed and breakfast. Meals were included in the price, and they were delicious.
I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

I get that same grin when I smell the ocean air 🙂 It’s bliss for me! My sister and I both love wrestling, and my grandma loved Bingo when she was alive! I always loved going with her. The cost of food is definitely horrible! The cheapest ticket we had was $50+. Thanks for rambling with me 🙂
