Provocative words, but Susan didn’t like confrontation.

She took a step back, but they didn’t back down. Something inside her swelled to twice its size. This madness had been going on since she was eight years old. Her mum had told her to ignore the words – they didn’t mean anything.

This time would be different.

Susan sighed, walking over to the teacher.
