Half My Plate

Today https://lindaghill.com/2022/11/25/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-nov-26-2022/ and her prompt is on my plate.

I have gone back to Slimming World, as I was steadily putting on weight, and needed to think about what I put on my plate. Surprisingly, I convinced my husband to join me. He has steadily been eating the wrong thing for a long time and getting out of breath.

As I diet, it works well, but you need to be right on plan, or it doesn’t work. My husband, so far, has lost more than me. Over a stone. I can’t seem to be thinking right, as far as losing weight goes. I don’t need to lose as much.

I’m glad it’s working for my husband but annoyed too. Men have a higher metabolism. They are allowed 25 syns. I am allowed 15. He keeps on telling me to do what he is doing, then bringing out some chocolate, and still losing weight. I try to tell him that it is because I am female. He thinks that is rubbish.

This week, I am making sure I go by the plan. I am writing down everything I eat, that way I can see where I am going wrong.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Maintaining a food diary helps. I realise it now that menopause is just round the corner and messing up my system, writing down about what I eat and how it affects me—good or bad— helps a lot.
