We are asked by https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/author/sadje19/ on her Sunday Poser, about looking good.
I do think as you get older looking good takes second over being comfortable.
As a young woman, I wore high heeled stilettoes, not caring if my feet hurt. I wanted to look good. Saying that, I never spent a lot of money on shoes. My budget was always on the small size. My favourite pair cost ten pounds in a sale, and they were comfy too. My son brought me a beautiful pair of high heeled shoes, and I have worn them once.
I used to wear make-up to go out, but now, I rarely do. What is the point? It takes too long to put it on and doesn’t help your skin. Yes, I do like to be presentable, and look nice. Sometimes I will go months without a haircut, but when I was younger made sure I got it cut every month.
I’m nearly sixty, to me I wear what I wear for me, for nobody else. I grew up in the eighties. Women at that time, started to have rights, but didn’t quite know what to do with them. Now, it is better.
We have respect for ourselves.
Thanks Diana for sharing your thoughts. I agree that our priorities change as we grow older and wiser. Whatever effort we make should be always for ourselves.
