Going Up

For Friday Faithfulshttps://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2022/12/02/inflation/ would like to know how inflation is affecting my life.

Inflation is affecting everyone.

In the UK, in the summer petrol was at an all-time high. At one point it looked like it was going to be as high as £1.90. Recently though, it has been going down to £1.55. I think it was because the petrol stations were looking at the crisis is Ukraine and getting oil from Russia and putting it up unnecessarily. The same with the gas prices. At one point, there was a threat of doubling our bill. With promised refunds, at least for six months, it has actually gone down. I pay my bill and a couple of weeks later I get the refund. This is mainly because people were threatening to stop their direct debits.

I am spending more in the shops for food. I spent about forty-five pounds a year ago, and now my normal shop is sixty. I am not on a high wage, and money seems to slip through a net in my bank account. Especially at this time of year. We are trying to buy presents.

It will get worse before it gets better, that much is for sure.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. I know what it’s like trying to buy presents when money is allocated elsewhere. When we were buying for family, kids got priority, and adults had a novelty or naff gift for no more than £1. It was more fun finding those! Hubby and I have a £10 dash for silly gifts, but in total all of them must not exceed £10. We go where there are a lot of charity shops now, but our first Christmas together in 1989 every gift purchased was from a car boot sale. Everyone is feeling the pinch, except our leaders who are millionaires in their own right and as for our PM? He’s richer than the King!!
