‘Surprise!’

He did his best to look a little shocked, but it was the best and worst kept secret of all time. All those shopping trips his wife joined their children on. Telephone calls, WhatsApp messages he wasn’t a part of.

Turning up was something he could do, and the joy on his face, as his family joined him, giving him a pint of beer, and presents.

Some of them he would rather not open, but then, it was all part of the fun.

Opening a card, he beamed, just want he wanted, a holiday to Las Vegas.
