Roses are Red

My question this week is:
Do you think the hike in prices for flowers, especially red roses,  as we near Valentine’s Day is warranted?

My answer is they are expensive, but then you have have choice whether to buy them or not. Personally I would be happy with one red rose, rather than the whole bunch. I remember my husband, when he was working, presenting me with a big bunch of flower, then telling me he was given them for free because he helped someone out. At least he was honest, although I wasn’t sure at the time.

Flowers are expensive, not only on Valentines, but on Mother’s Day, too.

Again, it is a choice to buy them, and I much preferred my daughter giving me daffodils (not from a shop, but from the grass verge) It is the thought that counts, and she was only twelve, and didn’t have a job to pay for any.

I have been married for thirty-five years, and hubby knows, I will be just as happy if he cooked me a meal, or made me a coffee. Romance isn’t dead, just shown in me being looked after.

Roses are red,

expensive too,

Just cook me a meal,

I won’t be blue.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
