Winter Breeze

My thoughts on https://alwayswrite.blog/ WQ #5

I took my Shottie for a walk today, cold, there were birds in the trees, singing their spring tune. I enjoy taking him out, mostly on a lead when I am on my own. We take the long route round. He enjoys it, and so do I.

We recently had a cold snap a few weeks ago, where the frost almost looked like snow on the ground. Within a day, the temperature rose. It almost felt like spring. I’m not sure the robins or sparrows got the message it was still cold. This is their mating season, so we expect to hear and see them more.

I like the snow, but we don’t get much where I live. It is a such a rare event, when it does, schools close, there is no transport and we just go out and have a snow day. There is something glorious about clean snow, untouched by humans.

My dog loves it, and has the best fun running around with his pal Luna. Off lead, and chasing snowballs, who wouldn’t love that?

In another month we will see the daffodils and a bit of warmth on our backs. Although, in the UK, it is not unusual to have snow one day and a heatwave the next. We had snow in April one year, the proper stuff, where it settled and you could actually make snowmen. In fact, driving around, you would always see something being made.

Snow, glorious

a sense of beauty in every

drop drifting to our heart.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.

  1. Our weather sounds much like yours – a little unpredictable. We are having a warm spell for a week so maybe all the snow will finally melt. Puppy Girl and I went for a nice long walk today, too. Isn’t it glorious to be alive and enjoy the songs and sounds of the birds in the cool, crisp air?
