Only the withered pages of his diary held the truth.
The days, where he met Richie, with an offer of a meal paid for, saved him some money. He appeared a nice bloke. Always well dressed, and with the latest mobile phone. It only seemed fair, he would deliver the package.
He was mugged, by a few older boys.
When he told his friend, the true nature of the contents was revealed. Cocaine, and two thousand pounds worth of produce. Not to worry; if he hid some at home, until the heat died down, then they would all be quits.
Crossing county lines, another job they asked of him. At first, it was a day out of college. When they asked if his little sister could go too, he had no choice but to agree.
Only, she thought Richie was handsome, wanted to see him again.
It was never going to happen.
Found when the remnants of his room were packed away, and only the faded pages of his diary held the truth.
The Chicken Shop Scam, is something I was told about, from a fellow writer in my creative writing group. This is used to lure vulnerable teenagers into drugs, without them realising it is happening. It is the reason I started writing ”In The Dark”.
this is so good 👍 💜

You highlighted a dark and disgusting scam here. Great story well done.

It’s partly why I wrote my story (still in the editing phase) because it isn’t well known. Not with parents anyway. Schools are aware, and in PHSE, will teach them what to avoid.

It’s definitely something parents and schools need to know and educate their children on as much as possible. Most importantly schools need a police liaison officer on staff to give the students a safe, confidential person to talk to if they think they are being groomed in this or any other way, I think.
