I think my only regret is not telling my parents about being bullied.

Eight-year-old me was worried, if I shared the truth of being called names, then things would become more serious. Of course, as an adult I know different. The only way it ends is to make home and school aware.

It is more serious now, because it isn’t just the physical and name calling after school, but social media. I still don’t understand how people can say whatever they want online. Especially since it is a public domain and nothing is ever deleted.

Bullying, in any form, shouldn’t happen.

I hate the term snitches get stitches – a horrible code where the victim cannot be honest.

It is time to change the narrative.

  2. Yes kids are being bullied and they think telling their parents or teachers will make things worse. It’s time to tell children that it’s okay to share this with their parents so that it can be stopped.

  3. I wish you had too, Diana, as your parents would have responded properly. I think I learned at an early age that telling my parents was hopeless because they would only blame me for being bullied. I imagine there are many like that too today.
