I’m not sure if it is anxiety, but the one disease I am frightened of is cancer. Many of my family have died because of it. When my bowels acted weirdly, I went to the doctor. Doctors ran every conceivable test.
It was only irritable bowel syndrome.
Not a nice thing to suffer from, but at least I know what it is.
Diagnosed with high cholesterol last year, I also have to be careful of what I eat. It is more difficult during Christmas, especially when the gifts we receive are chocolate, biscuits, and sugar based. Hopefully, when I am back at work, my routine will be better. I don’t smoke, but I have a sweet tooth.
That is an excuse, and I am old enough to understand, for my health to alter,I am the only person who can make that happen. Making changes like walking more, eating extra servings of fruit and vegetables, or reducing my fat intake leads to a healthier lifestyle.
it has to be something I do for myself.
Very true Diana, only we are capable of looking after our own health and making positive changes! Thanks for sharing

No worries, and at least all the Christmas temptation has been eaten.

I took back control of my diet after a heated discussion with the diabetes nurse who was adamant about me going on medication. I knew I was at fault with a poor diet over the previous year due to concerns and stress over my Husband’s health, but she wouldn’t have it. I feel back in control now, have got my sugars down by 2 and a half points, have lost weight, and eating sensibly again.
We are responsible for ourselves but some medical professionals are dictatorial rather than encouraging. We live with our bodies 24/7, not a few times a year, and know when something is out of sync, so we get it checked out. Good luck Diana, you’ve got this.

Thank you, I did lose 3 stone, so I know I am capable of eating healthy.

Way to go! Congratulations. I am five stone lighter than I was 20 years ago, so pleased about that. It’s harder to keep in target than lose it though.

Don’t I know it, bad habits creep in.

We’re only human, and a little of what you fancy is OK in moderation. Sadly in most cases a little isn’t enough!

I also suffer from IBS caused by stress. I don’t have a sweet tooth so that isn’t a problem for me but I know how hard it is for people who enjoy good food to resist. My son, Michael, and my sister #3 both struggle with weight all the time.

I think mine is due to stress.

That is the common cause, sadly

we all make excuses about our health and eating right, but your right, at the end of the day nobody can do it for us! We have to do it for ourselves!
