I love walking in the rain, it is a way of settling my emotions of the day. Autumn leaves remind me of golden sunsets long ago, where I watched the sun go down with my dad.
Interested in his life because he was my hero, I listened to his stories. He would speak of what happened in his time at the parachute regiment with pride and sadness. Pride, that he was a path to freedom. Sadness because of those he left behind.
I don’t think his time during the second world war truly left him. This was especially thought of when he watched the Remembrance parade on the 11th of November. He wouldn’t be afraid to cry, and I was never more proud when he did. My dad had a huge heart, and there isn’t a day I don’t think of him.
I lost my dad when I was 17, and I wish I had more years to spend with him. His name goes on though. When I look at my son, Jack, I see my dad’s kind heart. They would have got on so well together.
Fandango used this image on one of his prompts the other week, too. This guy’s work is amazing: https://www.deviantart.com/leonidafremov
