A pasted on smile, a cheery wave, but her heart felt like it had shattered into tiny shards of glass. What did it matter the face she chose, her feelings would still be the same. He would still be in an urn of ashes beside her bed.

She couldn’t let his final wishes down. Today, for the sake of his parents, she picked the face with the brightest smile. They would journey to the beach, and scatter his ashes into the ocean he loved so much.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
