My benefactor remains anonymous, but their kindness spoke volumes. To many it wasn’t much. A bicycle, probably second hand, but it saved my life. Now I could get to work with no cost at all.

Sometimes I would ride along the route, and second guess with precarious person thought to give me this beautiful mode of transport. Was it the lady in the flower shop? Or could it be the young man, in a smart suit, queuing at the bakery, where I work? There was also the elderly gentleman, with his dog, who saw me run for the bus home the other week.

I want to thank them, but the note said they want to remain anonymous.

Whoever it was, I make sure I wave to everyone I meet. At least then they will know just how much they’ve changed my life.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
