Melanie has asked
Should an individual have autonomy over their own bodies and the decisions made about their own body?
Ought the government be allowed to get involved in such personal decisions?
A woman should have autonomy over their own bodies – why should a government decide they know different. There wouldn’t be a situation where I would have an abortion, unless the baby was going to suffer as a result. If they had a disability that would mean they wouldn’t have any life to live.
However, that is my choice, and I won’t force my opinion on anyone else. There are many reasons women have an abortion. They aren’t ready to be a parent, or they got pregnant after being forced into something they didn’t want.
In the 1950’s women had backstreet abortions – many died as a result. We don’t want to go back to a world where women think they have no choice. What is happening in America is wrong. Whatever your opinion, no government should make that choice.
This is so very true. I’m happy to see that you are pro-choice.
