Living another Life

“In order to write about life first you must live it.” is #Blogging Insights prompt this week.

Hemmingway, I must disagree with your statement.

My first book was inspired, that’s the wrong word, but I wrote it because I was bullied as a child. It was my way of taking back control. All the other things I have written hasn’t got first hand knowledge.

I am happily married, and my husband would never hit me, but I wrote a book about domestic violence, a court scene and a prison scene. That is what research is for. That and knowing people who can help create a realistic feel to the setting and characters in my book.

I wrote a monologue in the point of view of a soldier suffering from PTSD. I am not a soldier or male, but I think it was pretty good. So, Hemmingway, if we all stuck to what we know our novels would never be written.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
