‘But at what cost? It seems that every time you copy yourself, something changes. Not physical, but a little part of you is lost.’

‘You’re imagining it.’

Two versions of his partner stood in front of him, but there was something in the way they looked into his eyes. Like they were going to hurt him. He wasn’t imagining it.

He took to sleeping with the doors locked.

‘With three of me, we would have the extra help. I know you’re worried, but just one more scan and we would be making history.’

‘I don’t think it is a good idea . . . We need to do more tests . . .’

He was going to be out voted that’s for sure. For now he had to go along with his friend.
