Fandango’s word of the day is Subscribe
‘Why have you subscribed to the cooking channel? You can’t even cook.’
‘I want to learn then . . . I mean didn’t you like your dinner yesterday?’ Blair said.
Sarah pushed the pizza box further under the table. Dinner was a strange affair last night. He mixed to meals in one. Pineapple on pizza was one thing, but there were a variety of fruit on his – apple, banana, grapes, and oranges – which didn’t blend in well with the cheese.
Even next doors cat turned up her nose.
She couldn’t cook either, but then she had learnt off the best.
‘I mean, it was different . . .’
It wasn’t the first time either, his addiction to the DIY channel, and he had half built several things without ever finishing the rest. Since he lost his job, boredom had taken over.
‘I reckon we need a new kitchen, I mean our oven is on its last legs, and I have time on my hands.’
A new kitchen, yes they did need to upgrade, but her idea of a new kitchen didn’t involve half opened boxes. She imagined sleek worktops, and a terracotta tiled floor. She had seen it on the shopping channel only last week.
She didn’t have the heart to tell her husband it was already arranged.
‘I tell you what,’ she said, ‘I have booked us a holiday, we go to Hawaii next week. I thought with everything that has happened we need a break. Hiding the credit card bill, she thought it was best to explain once they had got back.
‘I’ll pack my bags,’ Blair said.
What an interesting story all from the word ‘subscribe!’
