The prompt word from Fandango today is Tense.
‘You need to relax, the doctor said.
Relax, relax! It was difficult to relax when faced with high blood pressure. Charlie watch the monitor and the sleeve kept getting tighter and tighter. The more she tensed, the more the blood pressure went sky high.
‘So, it seems you have high blood pressure. Before we go the tablet route we need to see if there are some lifestyle changes we can do.’
Charlie nodded, the sound of her own heartbeat clearly heard.
‘You will need to book an ECG, some liver and kidney function tests. Don’t worry I’m sure they will come back okay.’
The chair felt squeaky underneath her legs, and she shifted from one position to the next. What if the doctor was wrong? All those tests sounded serious. Especially the ECG.
‘Do you smoke? Do you drink? Do you think you could do with losing some weight?’
‘No, gave up twenty-two years ago. I hardly drink, apart from going out.’ She refrained from answering the last question. It was a bit cheeky and even if she was putting a bit more weight on recently, didn’t mean she was obese.
‘Have you thought about going to a weight watching programme?’
Smile and wave boys, smile and wave. The penguins were at the edge of the ice with their little flippers. Back in the reception she went to book the blood test and her ECG.
‘We are fully booked I’m afraid, but we can book you in for the ECG next Friday, and the blood test in two weeks.’
It was with a deep breath she took the appointments – this wasn’t doing her blood pressure good at all!
My blood pressure always is elevated whenever I go to a doctor’s office. It’s always a lot lower when I take it at home.

Wish I could say the same with mine. My husband had a machine at home to check his and I did mine and found out mine was higher than his lol.
